Motor Trends car of the year in
1970 was the awesome and extremely powerful Ford CJ Torino. Amazingly we
fully loaded 70k original miles CJ Torino
with the build sheet up for sale. This is a second owner car and has
only under gone a few things over the years which take it out of the
"survivor" category.
Body:
The body on this car is extremely solid and straight. The only sheet
metal that was ever replaced on it were the rear quarters which you can
see in the photos located below. They were replaced with half skins. The
car also has only been repainted once within its 36 years of being on
the road. You will notice in the photos that there is a white residue in
certain spots and that is from being washed. They are not waves in the
paint or bondo. The floor pans are completely solid and need nothing. The body
is also in great shape and there is no exterior rust anywhere on the
car. The trunk is also solid but is suffering from some pin size holes
located on the drivers side of the trunk. The frame rails are also
completely solid. All of the chrome is in good shape with the exception
of some minor scuffs located on the front bumper. All of the weather
stripping is also in good shape. The factory shaker hood is in excellent
shape and needs nothing.
Interior:
The interior as you can see is all original. It does have some minor
wear in spots but is all there and in good shape. A good detailing would
really help tremendously. All of the gauges are in good working order.
One rare option that this car has is the factory ribbon tachometer which
you can see located in the photos below. It too is also in good working
order. All of the interior is original and has never been altered as far
as we know.
Engine:
The best part! From what we have gathered, we do know that the
transmission is original and is in excellent shape. Now from what we
have gathered as far as the motor, we do know that it is a correct 69/70
429 block (c9ve) with 72 Interceptor heads. The carburetor, distributor,
and radiator are also not original. Both the motor and transmission are
extremely powerful and need nothing. There are no strange noises and the
motor sounds like it is brand new. We do believe the clutch has been
replaced at some point. The car does not leak any fluids nor does it
smoke. It fires up every single time and I would say it is dependable
enough to take you clear across the country with no problems. The rear end is also
the original factory 350 Posi.
Options:
This car did come loaded and still retains all of its original options.
Ribbon Tach, 429, 4 speed transmission, rear window louvers, power
steering, power brakes (front disc), Sport mirrors, and a Shaker Hood.
This car is extremely beautiful
and has a very awesome ground pounding sound to it. It is definitely
something you would need to see, sit in, and feel in order to really
appreciate it. Please do not hesitate to call should you decide you
would like to come see it for yourself. I realize the photos can only
tell so much of the story and the day I took these photos (12.14.2006)
the car was not exactly in its cleanest state so you are seeing the car
for exactly what it is. As always do not hesitate to call or email with
any questions or concerns you might have.
