The split window on the coupe was removed for 1964 as well as the hood trim panels, but the hood recesses remained. A three-speed fan was placed in the rear of Coupe models to improve ventilation; the fan pulled air through vents added to the drivers side roof panel. 1964 Seat backs are more square, and thicker at the top. From 1964 through 1967, Dow-Smith in Ionia, Michigan, a division of the A.O. Smith Company, supplied some Corvette bodies.
This beautiful
example of the
Corvette legacy has
been refinished in
the original RPO 936
Ermine White and is
in excellent shape
overall. With a
little more
restoration this car
will not only turn
heads, it'll win
some shows too!
Exterior: Body is as straight as an arrow overall and has never had any major repairs done to it. Paint has been refinished and looks awesome. Fiberglass and brightwork look good all around as can be seen in the photos. All glass looks excellent with no scratches or chips anywhere. Windshield trim has been removed for refinishing but does come with the car. Windshield and seals are new. Wheels have been upgraded to an American Racing 15" rally style with Good Year eagle tires. Externally the car looks great and doesn't need much more than a good detail to be perfect.
Mechanical: The 327 (NOM correct) motor has less than 5000 miles since rebuild and runs excellently. When it was rebuilt the carb and intake were replaced with performance Edelbrock parts, cam and pistons were upgraded, and stainless steel headers were added. Recent replacements also include a new distributor and alternator. Engine purrs like new and even moderate pressure on the gas will throw you back in your seat-This is a very fast car!. The original transmission was rebuilt at the same time as the engine so also has less than 5000 miles on it. Clutch is like brand new so operates perfectly and the transmission shifts easily and is quiet. Drive shaft and U-joints are also new. Suspension has been gone over thoroughly with all worn parts replaced including all upper and lower control arm bushings, ball joints, shocks and rear leaf spring. The car has drum brakes all around that work perfectly. All electronics and instrumentation systems- original AM/FM radio, speedometer, gas gauge windshield wipers, lights etc. are in perfect working order, with the exception of the horn which is missing the button, and the headlights which have been removed.
Interior: The interior is in decent shape overall but is showing some signs of wear. Carpet has been replaced recently and still looks good. Dash and center console vinyl look good without any cracking or blemishes. Seats have a little wear as can be seen in the photos, and horn button is missing.
